Over twenty years inside businesses like yours. Now I build the machine that runs them.

For more than twenty years I've been the person businesses counted on to keep things running: leading teams, running operations, closing sales and taking care of customers across a dozen industries. Everything I build starts with how your day actually goes.

Over twenty years on the front lines. That's where I learned it.

MOTION BY MACHINEFROM THE DESK OF WILL LANCASTER
BRADENTON, FLORIDA

My first job was in my late father's psychology practice in Georgia. I handled patient billing and insurance claims, kept the schedule running, and even administered IQ testing to children twelve and under. He showed me that a practice runs on two things: real care for every person who walks through the door, and the discipline to get every detail right behind the scenes. That's where my work ethic comes from, and I've carried it into every job since.

Since then, I've been the person businesses count on to keep things moving. I've worked the front desk everywhere from a historic lodge on a lake in Glacier National Park to a riverfront hotel in Savannah, and I've supervised front-office teams at ski resorts and hotels across the Colorado Rockies. I've managed a retail store in Miami, from the team and the budgets to the marketing. I've run warehouse operations and dispatched delivery trucks for a supply company serving contractors, coordinated patient care for a psychiatry practice in Denver, sold advertising space for a national lifestyle magazine, and booked vacation rentals on Anna Maria Island and Siesta Key. I've worked as a licensed cultivator and extraction specialist in one of the most tightly regulated industries in the country, and I've framed houses and worked landscaping crews when that's what the job called for. Most recently, I sold to contractors who needed a quote before their crew rolled out at seven the next morning.

Every one of those businesses ran on good people. And every one of them leaked.

I watched it happen from behind the desk. The phone ringing during the lunch rush with nobody free to grab it. The estimate that sat in an inbox until the customer called someone else. The same order typed into three different systems by three different people. A manager staying late to finish paperwork a computer should have handled hours earlier. Nobody was lazy. The work just never slowed down long enough for anyone to fix how it got done.

I didn't have a name for it back then. Now I call it the leak.

I've always been drawn to computers and how they work. So when AI language models arrived a few years ago, I started putting them to use at businesses where I worked: drafting quotes and emails, answering product questions, cutting the paperwork down to size. Every shortcut taught me the same thing. Much of the work that wore good people down didn't need a person at all.

At night, I pushed further. Motion By Machine started as a film studio. I wrote, directed and scored short films, music videos and commercials, using AI tools to push each one further than I could alone. I also released original music under two artist personas. That work forced me to learn how these systems actually think: how to direct a video model shot by shot, keep a character consistent across an entire film, train custom image models, design and direct AI voices, and chain half a dozen tools into one finished piece without anything breaking along the way.

Then I turned those same skills on business problems. I started building automations that run on their own every morning, AI agents connected through APIs (the links that let one piece of software talk to another), and private AI models running on my own hardware.

That's when it clicked. My two worlds were never separate. Twenty years taught me exactly where businesses leak. AI gave me the tools to stop it.

Hospitality taught me that how fast you answer tells people how much you care. Sales taught me to listen before I recommend anything. Operations taught me that every process is a system, and every system can be built better. Filmmaking taught me to sweat the details nobody notices, because the customer always feels them.

So that's what I do now. I build the systems I wish every one of those businesses had: the ones that answer the phone, follow up on the quote, keep the calendar full and give good people their evenings back.

I'm not here to sell you AI for the sake of AI. If something in your business should stay human, I'll tell you. If something is costing you money every week, I'll show you what it's costing you and exactly what it takes to fix it.

The ship's articles. What you can count on.

  1. I

ARTICLE I · PLAIN ENGLISH, ALWAYS

If I can't explain a system in plain English, it isn't ready to build.

  2. II

ARTICLE II · NUMBERS OVER HYPE

Every system gets measured from launch day. Your weekly receipt shows what it did and what it cost, line by line.

  3. III

ARTICLE III · HUMAN WHERE IT COUNTS

AI handles the busywork. The handshake, the judgment call and the hard conversation stay with your people.

  4. IV

ARTICLE IV · THE PRICE IN WRITING

You see the full build price in writing before any work begins, and anything billed at cost is itemized on your receipt.

  5. V

    ARTICLE V · BUILT LIKE IT'S MINE

For over twenty years I helped hold other people's businesses together. I build your systems with that same sense of ownership.

GREETINGS FROMTHE GULF COAST

I grew up in Georgia, and some of my best childhood memories are family trips down to Bradenton and Sarasota. This stretch of the Gulf has had a hold on me ever since, so when I was grown, I made it home.

Work pulled me north for a few years, and I made those years count. I went all in on AI, putting it to work inside real businesses by day and building with it by night. Now I'm back for good with everything I learned, and Motion By Machine is built right here.

When I say I'll come to your shop, your office or your job site, I mean down the road, not across the country.

P.S. Chapo, my pug, supervises every build from the dog bed beside my desk.
